Dearest of Bambino,
This is a letter of thanks. After our wild night for my birthday last Thursday, involving Hot water, wine and lots of rest, you flipped. Our Midwife appointment was the next day, and after spending quality time discussing my options as far as breech babies go, she examined me only to discover your little head wedged contentfully in my pelvis. Just where you belong.
May you stay content and fully in my pelvis till the day you decide to open your eyes to the outside!
You have become a very very active little'un these days. I can feel little limbs moving back and forth along the front of my stomach. You are also now in the exact (or at least incredibly similar) position that your brother was in. This means that you are wedging you bum up by mama's ribs. Yes I remember that one very clearly. Not an exceptionally comfortable feeling for me as I sit, but complaints, I have none!
We are at 33 weeks now, I have gained 30 (ish) pounds and I feel great! I have also began to truly take advantage of Rohan's nap time by going down for a nap as well. Oh how I love a good afternoon nap.
Well your father is trying to convince me to watch Wolfman with him. We will see, it looks pretty gorey to me!
Love you little bird,

A blanket of bliss

Dear baby bird,We are on week 32 now and I am definitely feeling pregnant! I have started the trend of sleeping in a blanket and pillow oasis. Pillows under my head, under my hips, between my knees......there is barely any room in the bed for daddy these days!
You are slowing down your activity quite a bit, unless I have some sugary treat, than you are all over the place!! Your head is still up, which worries me quite a bit. We have little discussions about the comfort that you could obtain from having your head snug in my pelvis and not up in my ribs. You haven't paid heed as of yet! I also spend a bit of time in different positions to get you to move as well as a nice visualization of your bum popping out of my pelvis and you doing a nice acrobatic turn. It looks like fun in my head anyway.
Your big brother and I have caught a cold although it hasn't offered too much in the way of energy loss for him, all I can think about is laying around and sleeping. I guess it takes a bit more of toll on you when you are on your last legs of pregnancy. It is hard to believe how close we are now! I don't know about your daddy, but I am getting pretty anxious to find out your sex. Not that I think it will bring us any closer to finding you a name. You may be the second of our nameless children...............at least for the first little while!
Well I think I am going to curl back up in my blanketed bliss while your daddy spends some time with Rohan. I will write again soon!
I love you

Glucose test, funnest thing a girl can do with.............anyway

Dearest Bambino in my belly,
I had the joyous experience of heading into Gatineau to enjoy a tall glass of sugary orange frosty 'drink' in order for the midwives to determine my sugar levels and whether I am at risk, or already have, gestational diabetes. I would say that I am pretty low risk, so no worries, just a protocol. Though it pains me that I couldn't eat for the first time until 11am.........oh so hungry! I actual foreshadowed these hunger pains in my sleep and had amazing dreams of food last night, so sad! I hate to admit my chosen food, but I just wanted an ice cap so bad, and bagel, and a donut............oh the shame!
We were able to take this trip to the Midwife alone today as our friend Emerald (and mom Sharon) offered to spend the morning with Rohan. This will apply as our first real quality time spent together. During this very special mom baby time together, you were poked and prodded by the Midwife to find what position you are in. Not an ideal position I am afraid. Breech. Hmmph. Well we will have to have a few discussions about this, and mama will have to spend less time with her butt on the couch and more time with it in the air. I am sure you will appreciate the mental image by the time you are old enough to read this!!
As far as things go you are happy and healthy and active. I am still measuring a couple of weeks ahead of schedule, so this could be encouraging as far as your intended departure from la mama, come on Halloween! Also my pipe dream of a home birth has been denied due to our proximity to the hospital (a VBAC thing, I'll explain when your old enough!!). So overall a good day for us!
We will be meeting our back up Midwife in two weeks. It is hard to believe that I am already at the , meeting with midwife every two to three weeks, stage, it goes by so quickly!
Lots of love to you Birdie!

29 weeks and counting

Dear Baby Bird,
Here we are, your awaiting family, showing off our exceptional waist lines!
I have been reading a bit more on our recent stages now that we are heading deep into the abyss of the third trimester.
You are now on your final stages of development, but are pretty much a whole little baby. I could give birth to you right now and you would be small and maybe not so happy about the rude awakening, but you would be okay. That is always a reassuring thing to know when you reach that point in your pregnancy!
I am fully enjoying carrying you around with me, with only a bit of nausea, a touch of heartburn and a general tiredness, it is hard to complain! I am starting to offer the world the amusing look of a slight penguin walk when I make my way down the sidewalks, which is a pretty funny aspect to having all of your weight focused up front.
Well beautiful baby bird, we look forward to meeting you in a couple of months with sweet anticipation of all the surprises that it will bring. Fingers crossed for a Halloween birthday!!

Good afternoon
Hello Baby Bird,
Thank you for consistently reminding me of your presence by adjusting your position or even from your occasional acts of unintentional violence toward my uterus. I love you.

Names Names Names
Dear new baby,
I have been pondering different names for you, which can be a difficult task when you are attempting names from both sexes. Though the chances of you being a wee lad is much higher than a wee lass, I always seem to swerve toward the female names. Probably because they are much easier to come up with than boy names.
Some of the names that I have thought of, which I have not put across to your daddy yet (I would like to keep the hope alive before he veto's them!), are Autumn, Lotus, Jade and my all time favourite Leife. I love that name. I also see that there is a foliage theme happening. Oh nature, I guess I just cannot get you out of my mind!
Your daddy has come up with two names so far, both are very pretty, Kaia and Mia. I have already determined that there will be no double M's so Mia is looking unlikely (Mia Mckittrick, is sounds too made up, though the name itself is lovely). Both of us have been trying on Kaia since Rohan, I like it, but it just doesn't seem right.
We will most definitely have to meet you before we make any final decisions. Not only to determine the sex, but also to try the name on for size, make sure that is suits you. It is so hard to be the people to put an instant and lifelong label on such an innocent baby!
Well beautiful Birdy, keep kicking and I will see you soon............

Dear new baby bird,

As I am typing this to you, you are rolling around in ma belly. This is a sensation that I had instantly missed the day your brother entered into the world. I am now learning to spend more time enjoying and watching as you roll and kick and adjust under my skin. Though, more than I could possibly express, I look forward to meeting you face to face, I love having you so close to me over the duration of 9 months. We are now on week 28, I am ever expanding, as are you! I am having a pretty enjoyable pregnancy so far, a touch of heartburn, but nothing mama can't handle! I have been told by my midwife that you may be yet another big baby for mama, maybe a little less than 9 and a half pounds please?! But you are perfect according to me (of course) and especially according to the ultrasound pictures. You have everything you need to be a beautiful healthy baby!
It is a slow start, but I am sure there will be much said in the next couple of months!!
I love you baby,
Love Mama
